Firstly we'll gloss over just how long it is since my last post (slaps wrist). But hey here we are with a nice lil nod to a very lovely thing from 'We Rave You' magazine. not only do they seem to be on top of everything in the world of electronic music but they've also gone and voted my debut loop pack (Drums Of Sparta) number 1 top Cinematic Drum Sample pack on our blue dot for 2020, It honestly feels rather marvellous to get such a big nod by these guys and I'm naturally very proud of my little bundle of beats. So just incase this helps you decide whether it's worth filling your sonic arsenal with this little gem here's the link to their Top 5. You can still grab the huuuuggeee 2Gb bundle of cinematic goodness here at Loopmasters.

I started putting this loop/sample pack together before the pandemic so any association with post apocalyptic climates is purely coincidental! This follow up the the hugely successful Drums Of Sparta has now been released to a fanfare of praise like it's elder sibling, however this time the stakes have been raised, the intensity is heightened and Mad Max has driven off with the band! All 2.4Gb of these versatile and cinematic drum loops are broken into their individual stems so you can mix and match and create your own unique beats whether it's for film, games, or the soundtrack to your next socially distanced battle re-enactment! Industry vet, Russ Harris, is the man thumping the tubs. And his mammoth collection of exotic percussion pieces have been put through their paces. His crazy rhythms are stacked with character and far-flung charm. Egyptian and Arabian instruments get exquisitely bashed, as do junkyard pots and pans. There's something for every soundtrack - be it the Wild West or the post-apocalyptic wastelands of the year 2021. Computer Music Magazine Verdict 9/10 Full contents of the pack which only costs £29.99 can be found by clicking the image below. Fill yer boots and beats!
Well I've been silent a bit longer than planned but that's what you get for having a raging lunatic of a 1 year old to deal with but hey ho, here we are finally. Between eternal nappy changes, snacks, firefighting the washing up and 4am barbaric bursts of rage (Child, not me), I've actually managed to follow up Drums Of Sparta with a new pack of decibel challenging sound effects and samples. This is.... 'Trash, Clatter & Clunk'.
It contains 841 Clattering Sound design elements taken from the most junk filled kitchen on earth. Suitable for many applications, whether you are looking for Foley, producing an industrial post apocalyptic soundscape or you just want to upset your neighbours. This pack contains a large pile of metal junk which has been scraped, banged, slapped, bashed, twanged, crashed, pinged, clicked, clunked, boinged and clankety clanked. All this has been done gently, moderately and furiously with wooden and metal beaters and smashed into each other. All sounds contained within this pack are recorded using a Zoom H1 field recorder, they're 100% royalty free and cleared for your use in commercial productions.

A little while back I had the pleasure of being invited to perform a live score to a special Blade Runner party, being a huge fan of the film as many others and a strong admirer of Vangelis I jumped at the chance. The music I created was entirely original using my collection of vintage analogue synthesizers and mostly improvised around a loosely framed structure that evolved throughout the night and built up from sparse atmospherics to a full on rave by the end of the night but always staying true to the aesthetics of Blade Runner. Since this event a couple of years back I've always had the intention to record these ideas and release them. At the time there was no word of there ever being a sequel and to me these we're my own way of extending Ridley Scott's dystopian universe into my own musical sequel of sorts. So now with the timely release of Blade Runner 2049 upon us I finally have the first few of these recordings to share with you. There's not been a better time to fire up our love for this classic film again and these tracks are simply my own tribute. Please feel free to download them for your own listening. There will be many more tracks to come over the next few weeks on the build up to a full album. I hope you enjoy.
Take the link HERE or just listen below... Hi all, a want to give a huge shout to all my fellow composers and media producers that have been trying out my Drums Of Sparta loop pack! I'm keen to hear the tracks you have been making with it so far so please share you ideas and send me some links, if you like I can post a few of them up on my site. I can imagine there's a fair few of you out there that are huge fans of shows like Game Of Thrones right so maybe these battle drums have helped give you the tools too write some equally epic music or maybe you've used them for dance music tracks or something highly experimental for video games. Either way I'd love to hear it! For those of you who have found yourself here but have no idea what I'm going on about, this is Drums Of Sparta, a cinematic world percussion loop pack, only available from Loopmasters.... Here's what people have been saying about it.............The Reviews
Computer Music Magazine - 9/10 'The performances are superb, and the production unfussy yet epic, making for a compelling pack.' I'm very pleased to see my 'Drums Of Sparta' loop pack getting some great reviews. It's now available exclusively via Loopmasters. It's the definitive percussion loop pack for composers, sound designers and media producers who want to bring an element of the epic cinematic sound of the battlefield to their productions.
You can get it here today! I've just had the immense pleasure to complete scoring a short film for the guys over at Solaris Media, it's called 'Control' and it's about a woman struggling with addiction and unwanted guidance, all the while wrestling with how to take control of her situation. I had to work closely with the Director take great care that the music especially the piano piece at the end portrayed the perfect sentiment. We had to walk a fine line to get the balance just right between a sense of the lead characters Isolation and a misjudged sense of freedom from her pain. Ultimately this leads to the inevitable destination of a character who can no longer define reality. Once I had scored this I decided to go on to adapt it into it's full musical piece. This is now available here for you all to hear. I hope you enjoy it. The full short Film 'Control' can be seen below, so please give it a watch.
All further work by Solaris Media can be found here.
Also a full array of my music work can be heard on my Soundcloud page for Russ Harris Music.
I recently had the fortune to compose the music and create sound design for the flagship promotional short for the film company 'The Eidolon Collective'. This film showcases the teams talent and raw skills that make them one of the best in their field and goes a long way to demonstrates the team at work within a wonderfully enchanting concept. You can find out more about them here.
If you are a composer or game developer looking to add some epic battle percussion to your projects then this free pack of loops may be very useful for you. the drums of sparta page is now active in preparation for the full release so please head over and grab yourself the trial pack here, in the mean time i'll continue beavering away at the full release.
I'm mostly in mixdown mode at the moment and it's just dawned on me how large this pack is becoming. While i'm working through it i also keep getting further ideas so there have been additions such as rises, impacts and stings which will help you structure your own ideas, plus all of the drum loops will be also broken down to their individual elements so you can add and combine whichever you need to adapt to your evolving musical scores. These loops were all put together using a careful selection of orchestral percussion and the marvelous Drums Of War from Cinesamples. They were sampled in 24/48 using the best gear, in a fantastic Los Angeles studio, by one of Hollywood’s most in-demand percussionists using instruments which they have never sampled before. I plan to make sure this pack has everything you'll need to portray the biggest sense of scale and action intensity so i'm taking lots of care to create natural feel and space, so i really hope you enjoy this free taster.
